rs10822184 is a non-coding variant located about 111 kb downstream of JMJD1C, a gene encoding a Jumonji-domain histone demethylase, on chromosome 10q21. A genome-wide association study of men of European ancestry first reported it as associated with serum testosterone, and that association is real and heavily replicated — but it is an effect on total testosterone, which is mostly the fraction bound to sex hormone-binding globulin. In 178,782 UK Biobank men the same variant is null for bioavailable testosterone (p = 0.74), so the locus is a binding-protein locus rather than an androgen locus. It is retained here for historical reference and no longer drives a finding; the correctly attributed marker at this locus is rs7910927, carried on the Sex-hormone transport trait.
