rs116058752

rs116058752 is an intronic variant in ADCY2 (adenylate cyclase 2) on chromosome 5. In a genome-wide association meta-analysis of human olfactory identification, it showed a strong, female-specific association with the ability to identify orange odor (odds ratio approximately 2.88 in women, with no significant effect in men), a sex-differential pattern the study authors attributed to androgen response elements located within ADCY2. It is used as a genetic marker for orange-smell identification differences.
